Camarillo is named after Adolfo Camarillo, a pre-1851 California native of Spanish ancestry, to preserve the city's heritage after the arrival of the Anglo settlers. It is a city in Ventura County, California, that is primarily a bedroom community, wherein most of the residents commute to work elsewhere. In its January 1, 2006 estimate, the California Department of Finance listed Camarillo's population at roughly 64,000.
