Costa Mesa Restaurant Guide

One of the best places to visit for dining in Costa Mesa is the South Coast Plaza. The Plaza is the home to several great Costa Mesa restaurants. While some may have apprehension of the idea of finding fine dining inside a mall, many great restaurants in Costa Mesa are located inside the South Coast Plaza. The choices of dining in Costa Mesa restaurants located in South Coast Plaza vary widely from French Bistro to pizza restaurants to chic microbreweries.

There are also many good Costa Mesa restaurants that are located outside of the South Coast Plaza. The area surrounding the mall has become a hub of commercial activity, with many shops and restaurants in Costa Mesa located within the vicinity.

Costa Mesa dining offers one of the richest selections of restaurants in California and is renowned for its world-class cuisine. The choice of Costa Mesa dining varies widely, from local California restaurants to Japanese sushi bars, from good old American barbecues to spicy Thai food.

One of the landmarks in Costa Mesa and a center of commercial activity is South Coast Plaza, a large shopping center with over 322 stores and restaurants. South Coast Plaza is an important cog to the economy of Costa Mesa and is one of the regional shopping centers with the highest sales volume in the nation, generating more than one billion dollars in sales per year.

South Coast Plaza prevails as one of the nation's most luxurious shopping destinations for fashion, home furnishings, spa services, and dining in Costa Mesa. The area surrounding South Coast Plaza has blossomed into an important commercial district, popularly known as South Coast Metro.

Other Activities to Enjoy While Dining in Costa Mesa

If you wish to visit theaters after enjoying the Costa Mesa dining there are at least three important theaters within the city, including the Orange County Performing Arts Center, eVocal, and South Coast Repertory. The Orange County Performing Arts Center has become one of the region's most prominent cultural institutions, well known for both its award-winning architecture and facilities and for the exceptional quality of performances offered there.

There are also numerous outdoor activities to immerse in after dining in Costa Mesa, with about 26 parks, a municipal golf course. The Orange County Fair is held in Costa Mesa every July at the Orange County Fairgrounds. It is one of the largest fairs in California with more than one million visitors each year. There are live performances held at the Pacific Amphitheater beside the Orange County Fairgrounds. The venue has hosted several big concerts and acts before.

Costa Mesa is a suburban city in Orange County, California with a population of about 109,000. The city has grown substantially over the years from its roots as a semi-rural farming community to an economy heavily based on retail, services and light manufacturing.

The economy is not dependent on retail alone as there are also some light manufacturing activities at the industrial, southwest corner of the city. It is the home to a number of electronics, pharmaceuticals and plastics firms.
