Hollywood is widely known as the home to the movie industry in the United States, and its name is synonymous to the entertainment industry.
The Hollywood & Highland complex, which is also the site of the Kodak Theater, has been a major hub for bars and restaurants in Hollywood. Numerous trendy bars, clubs, and retail businesses have opened on or surrounding the boulevard, allowing it to become one of the main night time spots in all of Los Angeles.
The Hollywood restaurants and nightclubs are decidedly upscale in keeping up with the image of its area. The Hollywood dining experience is a memory you will treasure for years to come.
There are numerous varieties of Hollywood restaurants serving authentic ethnic cuisine. A majority of these Hollywood restaurants can be found in the Hollywood & Highlands Complex, including Italian restaurants, traditional grills, Japanese restaurants, Asian and Mediterranean fusion restaurants, and (of course) Southern California dining.
There are numerous Hollywood restaurants located outside of the Hollywood & Highland Complex, all within a few blocks of each other. There are probably about 1,000 California restaurants in Hollywood that run the whole gamut of available cuisines. The most popular restaurants in Hollywood are Mexican, Italian, Thai and Sushi restaurants. As in other cities in Los Angeles, steakhouses still dominate the restaurants in Hollywood.
From the famous Hollywood sign set atop Hollywood Hills, any movie buff will be enthralled by the numerous landmarks you can visit after going to restaurants in Hollywood. The must see landmarks when after visiting Hollywood restaurants include Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre. There are also many other television studios in the area but from the outside, they pretty much just look like office buildings.
Even if you do not run into a celebrity while in Los Angeles, there is the Hollywood Wax Museum with wax figures of celebrities. In addition, the Max Factor Museum of Beauty shows vintage ads and glamour photographs that made movie stars famous. You can also take a movie making tour of Paramount Studios after dining in Hollywood.
Hollywood is a famous district in downtown Los Angeles with a population of about 210,000. It is famed as the historic center of movie studios and movie stars in the United States. As such, its name is often used as a substitute for the movie industry in the United States. Today, most of the movie industry has already left Hollywood and shifted to nearby locations such as Burbank and Los Angeles Westside but several supporting companies to the movie industry stayed in Hollywood.
Hollywood is a top tourist destination and known for its nightlife. It is the home of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has many historic theaters. It continues to host major theatrical releases and functions like the Academy Awards and the Oscars.
Due to the migration of the movie industry to other locations, Hollywood suffered many years of serious decline and many Hollywood landmarks were threatened with demolition. Today, the area is now undergoing rapid revitalization with many new developments completed and many more planned Hollywood restaurants.
