We obtained our namesake from the Arch Rock at Anacapa Island. Anacapa is the smallest island in the Channel Islands, off of Santa Barbara’s coastline. The Chumash Indians named the island “Ennepah” because in the morning mist and ocean fog the island seemed like a mirage. Anacapa literally means “ever-changing.” Anacapa is only accessible by boat, and getting on the island is very difficult. It has many sheer rock cliffs. One of the most
famous of these cliffs is called the Arch Rock, a 40 foot natural rock bridge. Arch Rock is the symbol of the Channel Islands. The Channel Islands and the cold, deep water surrounding them is known for an abundant bounty of sea life. And these cold waters are where we will pull the majority of our fresh seafood.
