The other landmark is the Rancho Simi, where the headquarters of the Spanish Rancho San Jose de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi was located. It is one of the largest land grants in California by the Spanish government. Two prominent Spanish and Mexican family names are connected with Rancho Simi -- Santiago Pico, who first received the grant, and Jose de la Guerra, who purchased the Rancho in 1842.

One of Simi Valley's events, the annual Cajun Creole Music Festival, is sure to delight music lovers. The Music Festival started out as a fundraiser in the late 1990s called the Clam Bake. By 1999, the Music Festival has become the largest fundraiser in Simi Valley. The two-day event over Memorial Day weekend draws more than 15,000 people. Over recent years, the Music Festival has been held at the Santa Susana Park at the corner of Los Angeles Avenue. Conveniently located nearby are several Simi Valley restaurants.
About Simi Valley
Simi Valley was incorporated in 1969 under the laws of the State of California. The third largest among Ventura County's 10 cities, Simi Valley City is known as the home of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. It is located in the southeast corner of Ventura County, California. The City is situated beside the Simi Hills and borders San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. The United States Bureau of the Census estimated the city's population at 118,687 in 2005. Population reached 126,144, as of July 2008.
